Dear esteemed Delegates and honorable Faculty,
I am humbled by this opportunity to host the very first HAWKMUN at Hanover High School.
Alongside myself, I am joined by my Director General, Ryan C Palmer. He, alongside countless other students and advisors, has been working tirelessly to bring this conference to life. Together, we extend a heartfelt welcome to every person joining us for this opportunity.
Our theme this year is spoken through our organization’s motto, “Peace in our Time.” This quote, although seasoned with the ironic nature of global history, speaks to the ambitions of peacemakers and the faults of their pride. This organization was founded with that same ambition and continues to offer its support to the Hanover Community in the education of foreign affairs and international relations. At HAWKMUN, I hope to see the same ambition that led to the birth of this organization in the form of enthusiastic delegates and insightful solutions brought forth at this conference’s bold and outstanding committees.
Our Model UN journey began just two years ago, and through this opportunity, we have created a training ground for empathy, leadership, and collaboration that remains effective to this day. I encourage those attending to not just debate, but to give a call to the unheard and use your voice to uplift others. Whether you are a first-time delegate or a seasoned participant, your voice matters in shaping the discussions ahead.
Sincerely,
Markos Bicha
