The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health. Established in 1948, WHO plays a central role in coordinating global health responses, setting medical and safety standards, and supporting countries in strengthening their healthcare systems. It works closely with member states, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations to combat health threats and promote universal health coverage.
WHO’s agenda spans a broad spectrum of health challenges, including pandemic preparedness and response, vaccine equity, mental health, maternal and child health, and the control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. As global health threats become increasingly complex, ranging from climate change and antimicrobial resistance to misinformation and digital health gaps, WHO leads efforts to ensure evidence-based solutions and equitable access to healthcare. Its role in fostering international collaboration, mobilizing resources, and guiding policy is essential to advancing health as a fundamental human right across the globe.

My name is Sidhvidheer Janapareddy, I'm a junior, and I currently hold the secretary position for our group and have been a part of MUN since March of 2025. Although I’m considered a novice in the club having attended only 2 conferences, I still strive to enhance my public-speaking, research, and networking skills. I’ve come to learn through joining the club that I’m surrounded by individuals who have similar goals, whether it’s related to academics and extracurriculars, or if it’s just conversing about humorous jokes which shows the wholesomeness in our club. As for my extracurriculars, my favorite activity is kickboxing, a hobby which I’ve had genuine passion towards for several years. In addition, I’ve been playing basketball for many years as well, and towards athletics, I’m open to learning new sports to keep myself productive – tennis soon to be one of them. I also enjoy learning new talents and skills, from different instruments to the various art forms which I’m yet to discover. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, reading, writing, coding, playing basketball, and practicing kickboxing.
