The Secretariat of HAWKMUN I is proud to announce our first iteration of Hanover High School's Model United Nations Conference! Just two years ago, our Secretary General Markos Bicha had the idea of pooling a group of friends together to form what is now Hanover High School Model United Nations Club. Starting from just a weekly hour-long hangout between a friend group, we have grown to host 15+ dedicated members, attend 7 conferences, and win 3 awards! Following these accomplishments, our club now strives to complete a new goal: Host an amazing conference.

Ever since, the secretariat has been LOCKED IN on making this conference a reality. Through countless meetings, we have put together something special, and cannot wait to see what our work will amount to. 

Our conference this year has two main themes: Peace in Our Time and Ambition. From the very start, our club motto has been "Peace in Our Time". Through diplomacy and communication, we know words and agreements can make a huge impact on how conflicts play out. Through your actions today, delegates, whether through your speeches in moderated caucuses or your resolutions and directives, we know that you all will bring peace. With our club's recent upbringing, all of our members have learned what it means to be ambitious: having high goals and doing anything you can to achieve them. It seemed unfathomable that we would create a conference in our third year of club activities, but after blood, sweat, and tears, we have put together something great. We hope in your committees today, you can be ambitious: set high expectations for yourself, and work hard to bring your committee heights. Work hard, and do whatever you can to achieve your goals. Be Ambitious.
